LARNACA, a vibrant coastal city on the southern shores of Cyprus, boasts a rich tapestry of history dating back to ancient times. Known for its scenic Finikoudes Beach, lined with palm trees and bustling cafes, Larnaca also features the Church of Saint Lazarus, a significant religious landmark. The city seamlessly blends its historical heritage with modern amenities, making it a popular destination for both relaxation and exploration.
During our Trail-O training course, we will utilize detailed maps specifically designed for Larnaca and Nicosia. These maps have been selected to provide an in-depth understanding of the terrain and to enhance the practical learning experience for all participants.

Trail Orienteering is an orienteering sport that focuses on the skill of map reading and decision-making where the physical speed of the competitor is not a deciding factor. It is designed to be inclusive and accessible to people with varying levels of mobility.
The course is open to anyone interested in learning about Trail Orienteering, including orienteering enthusiasts, professionals aiming to expand their coaching skills, and individuals looking to understand more about inclusive sports practices.
There are no specific prerequisites. However, a general interest in orienteering or sports management will be beneficial. The participants will be divided into two groups based on their initial level of knowledge of Trail-O.
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Trail Orienteering, including basic to advanced techniques, strategies for organizing inclusive and competitive events, and insights into engaging diverse communities.
The course will be held in Larnaca, Cyprus, from November 2nd to 4th, 2024.
The fee for the course is €100 per participant, which includes accommodation for three nights, all training materials, and access to all sessions. An early bird special of €50 is available if you register by September 15, 2024.
Participants will receive an official certification recognized by IOFA Consortium, enhanced skills in planning and managing events, and the ability to promote and engage in inclusive sports.

No, accommodation is not included in the course fee.
The course features experienced Trail-O professionals and accredited sports educators, including Tomislav Varnica, an IOF Event Advisor, and Peter Molnar, also an IOF Event Advisor and vice president of the Hungarian Orienteering Federation.
Yes, we will organize additional orienteering-related activities, including two promotional races in Larnaca and Nicosia.
Both Larnaca and Paphos airports are fine. Larnaca is clearly more convenient. However, landing at the Nicosia airport, not internationally recognized, is not allowed.
The course begins on November 2nd, so arrivals should occur on November 1st. Introductory and networking activities will be organized in the late afternoon or evening.
The course will end on November 4th by 13:00 in Larnaca; after that time, it’s possible to plan the return journey home

Key objectives include developing guidelines for grassroots events, crafting educational materials for wider dissemination, and fostering awareness about Trail Orienteering as a valuable sport for inclusion and social integration.
